Resolve IP addresses to country, region, city, and postal code with sub-40ms latency. Multiple independent data sources converge into a single high-confidence location.

Location published by the networks that run the addresses
Nobody knows where an address is used better than the network that assigned it. Operators publish a geofeed and point to it from the WHOIS record for their address block, as RFC 9092 lays out.
geofeed: attribute on the operator's inetnum or NetRange object (RFC 9092)
geofeed: line, and they count the same way
Measuring the speed of light to locate IPs
By measuring round-trip times from multiple known locations to a target IP, we triangulate its physical position. The speed of light through fiber constrains the maximum distance per millisecond of latency.
Network paths encode geographic proximity
BGP routing tables reveal which networks peer with each other and where. An IP address announcing through a London IX and peering with BT, Virgin Media, and Vodafone UK is overwhelmingly likely to be in the UK. We map AS-path geography to build location constraints.
ISP network topology reveals subscriber location
Large ISPs structure their networks geographically. DSLAM names, BRAS identifiers, and rDNS hostnames contain encoded city and region information. We parse infrastructure naming patterns across thousands of ISPs worldwide to extract sub-city geolocation.
One address, served from many places at once
Some addresses are announced from dozens of cities at the same time: public DNS resolvers, CDN edges, DDoS scrubbing networks.
Benchmarked monthly against GPS-validated datasets.
Every routable IPv4 address and active IPv6 prefix is classified and geolocated. The database updates every 24 hours with fresh observations from all six data sources.
Location, time zone, currency, language, and ISP data returned in one response. No field-level pricing or upsells.
ipThe IP address that was looked up, echoed back.

Serve the right language, currency, and regional content automatically. Show prices in local currency without asking users to set preferences manually.
Enforce GDPR cookie consent for EU visitors, CCPA disclosures for California users, and geographic content restrictions required by licensing agreements.
Compare the billing address country with the IP country. Flag transactions where the IP location is inconsistent with the payment origin as a risk signal.
Serve geo-targeted ad campaigns down to the city level. Use region and postal code for hyper-local targeting of retail, real estate, and event promotions.
Enrich your analytics pipeline with geographic dimensions. Map user sessions to countries, regions, and cities for geographic performance breakdowns.
Route users to the nearest edge server or data center based on their IP location. Reduce latency by serving content from geographically proximate infrastructure.
Understand where your users are geographically. Identify markets with high traffic but no localized experience, and prioritize international expansion.
Determine the correct tax jurisdiction for digital goods. Use country, region, and postal code to apply the right VAT, GST, or sales tax rate automatically.
Every IP address mapped to a physical location. Use it to personalize content, localize currency, or fetch contextual data like weather — all without asking the user anything.
ipdata resolves the visitor's IP to coordinates. Pass those coordinates to any weather API and display hyper-local conditions — no geolocation prompt required.
Display prices in the visitor's local currency and adapt your store language — automatically. No user selection required, no cookie banners for language preference.
Different jurisdictions require different consent flows. Use IP geolocation to detect the visitor's country and apply the right compliance rules before rendering a single pixel.
Automatically redirect visitors to region-specific storefronts, CDN edges, or localized landing pages based on their detected country — before the page even finishes loading.
Pipe every IP in your access logs through ipdata to append geolocation, threat scores, VPN/proxy status, and ASN data. Analysts see the full picture without manual lookups.
